How Is Work Different Now Than in the Past?

Historians inquire. In this lesson, students will use inquiry to explore how work has changed over time. They will learn that in the past, most people worked on farms or in trades in or near their home. They will also learn that all members of the family, including children, worked in the past. Students will analyze primary sources to learn how the tasks, tools, and location of work have changed over time. After the inquiry activities, students will be asked to demonstrate understanding by answering the mystery question: “How is work different now than in the past?”

A narrated slide deck is now available for this Mystery!
