BGCA Lesson One: Rights and Responsibilities
Participants will be able to compare and contrast the rights of a citizen from Do I Have A Right? with the responsibilities of a citizen in Responsibility Launcher.
In Do I Have A Right?, players run their own firm of lawyers who specialize in constitutional law. Players decide whether potential clients “have a right,” and if so, match them with the right lawyer. The more clients served and the more cases won, the faster the law firm grows! In Responsibility Launcher, players remind citizens that they can solve problems by fulfilling their civic duties such as voting, serving on juries, serving in the military, getting an education, and staying informed! By playing these games together, players compare and contrast citizens’ rights and responsibilities.
Participants will be able to:
- Name the rights protected by the Bill of Rights
- Understand the responsibilities of citizenship
- Identify how rights and responsibilities of citizenship are related
