Democracy at a Crossroads: A National Summit to Promote Innovative Civic Learning Now

With over 250 people in attendance, strong press coverage and a roster of panelists that included Justice Sonia Sotomayor, former Education Secretary John King, PBS anchor Judy Woodruff and so many others, the summit was a huge success by all accounts.

CivXNow: iCivics Co-Hosts Democracy at a Crossroads Summit

Our nation faces enormous challenges at home and overseas, yet we are deeply divided. As Americans, we have increasingly segregated ourselves into echo chambers of the like-minded. To shed light and spur action on this issue, Carnegie Corporation of New York and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation sponsored a summit on September 21, 2017 in Washington, DC.  iCivics – the largest civic education provider in the country founded by Justice Sandra Day O’Connor (U.S. Supreme Court, Ret.), the Jonathan Tisch College of Civic Life at Tufts University, the Campaign for the Civic Mission of Schools and the Lou Frey Institute are co-hosting the summit and coordinating the program.
