iCivics Recognized by Fast Company’s 2019 World Changing Ideas Awards

April 26, 2019

iCivics is delighted to be recognized as a co-finalist, along with The Annenberg Public Policy Center, for Fast Company’s 2019 World Changing Ideas Awards.

The Awards honor businesses, policies, projects and concepts that offer innovative solutions to the issues facing humanity.

We were acknowledged for our news literacy game NewsFeed Defenders, which aims to teach critically-important news literacy skills. Given the proliferation of intentionally misleading online news, news literacy has become a core skill for today’s students. We are pleased to provide an interactive way to teach the standards of journalism and strategies for discerning fact from fiction.

Now in its third year, World Changing Ideas is one of Fast Company’s major annual award programs and is focused on social good, seeking to elevate finished products and brave concepts that make the world better.

Honorees are determined by a panel of eminent judges from a pool of more than 2,000 entries based on potential for impact. With a goal of awarding ingenuity and fostering innovation, Fast Company draws attention to ideas with great potential and helps them expand their reach to inspire more people to start working on solving the problems that affect us all.

We are deeply grateful for the support and partnership of The Annenberg Public Policy Center in developing innovative new games.
