Step 9: Grab People’s Attention

Lesson Plan

In this step, students get creative by developing “swag” to promote their cause. They learn principles of effective attention-grabbing that they apply to their own swag designs, including how to write a tagline and use visuals effectively. Students also research cost estimates for promotional materials and discuss the value of these items.

This resource was created with support from the National Association of Counties.

The student will:

  • Describe the purpose of promotional materials
  • Write a compelling tag line for their cause
  • Design effective promotional materials
  • Estimate the cost of producing promotional materials
