Meet the Massachusetts iCivics Team
iCivics is one of the leading civics education organizations in Massachusetts. In addition to serving as a major provider of curriculum and professional development, we worked closely with other organizations to form the Massachusetts Civic Learning Coalition that served as a major champion for the new civics law. We continue to take an active role in other leading initiatives to ensure that all students gain a high quality civics education.
Dave Buchanan, iCivics’s Director of Massachusetts Program. As the former Assistant Director of Literacy and Humanities and the History and Social Studies Lead at DESE and as a social studies teacher for many years prior to that, Dave brings strong content knowledge and decades of experience with the principles of literacy instruction, expertise in high-quality curriculum design, and knowledge of current research and resources for effective social studies and civics instruction.
Lora De Salvo, iCivics’ Curriculum Associate. Lora has 16 years of experience teaching U.S. History and U.S. Government courses at the two-year college and high school levels.
Molly Launceford, iCivics’ Curriculum Assistant. Molly supports curriculum planning and development, handles support requests, and represents iCivics at conferences and trainings.
