Kathleen Smalley is a Partner in the Los Angeles office of Locke Lord LLP.  Her practice includes sophisticated real estate transactions and disputes, complex corporate transactions, corporate and family business governance, and acting as outside general counsel on high-stakes litigation.  Ms. Smalley is the former General Counsel of Trammell Crow Company and General Counsel of Crow Holdings. She also served as the Senior Vice President, Corporate Operations and General Counsel of Catellus Development Corporation (NYSE: CDX).  She was the Associate Director of the Ziman Center for Real Estate at UCLA and has taught semester-long courses Harvard, Yale, Stanford, and UCLA Law Schools.  A former trustee of the California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS), Ms. Smalley is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a Fellow of the British-American Project, and a past chairman of the Visiting Committee of Harvard Law School. She also serves on the Advisory Committee of the American Law Institute's Restatement of the Law - Torts: Liability for Economic Loss.  A graduate of Harvard Law School and Rice University, Ms. Smalley served as law clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.
