Kristen Chapron

ELL Project Lead

¡Hola! After participating in a study abroad program in Madrid, Spain, Kristen developed a passion for the Spanish language and culture (not to mention cafĂ© con leche). Her time overseas inspired her to major in Spanish Literature and minor in International Studies at Boston College.  She continued her studies of the Spanish language and went on to receive her MA in Spanish Linguistics from UMass Amherst.  Kristen has taught Spanish at the high school and college level, as well as teaching her two sons to speak Spanish from an early age.

Kristen gained expertise in content and pedagogy as an editor of Spanish textbooks at Vista Higher Learning. She then worked as a Developmental Editor with a variety of other publishers for print and technology components.

As a foodie and world traveler, Kristen has eaten exotic foods and studied in Spain, Mexico, and Guatemala.  Despite her international palate, her favorite restaurant continues to be Bueno y Sano in Amherst, MA.

On Fridays, she can be found channeling her inner Don Quijote as the coordinator of the Spanish playgroup at the Watertown Family Network, singing and using puppets to engage and inspire children.
