Catching Joy, Inc.

Catching Joy is a 501 c non-profit that promotes volunteerism and acts of kindness beginning with kids, teens, and families. We organize hands-on community service projects that youth can do to help teach them the responsibility and joy of giving. Events and activities include: "A Big Blanket Hug" event where team members and volunteers make and collect no-sew blankets for homeless shelters; "JoyMaker Challenge" event where team members and volunteers make homemade ornaments for holiday trees to be donated to shelter homes and families in need; "Blessing Bags" event where team members and volunteers decorate gift bags and fill them with toiletries, snack bars, and bottled water for the homeless.

Being an Ashoka Changemaker means having compassion for others and wanting to help. It means collaborating with others to make a difference. It means believing that we CAN make the world a better place.

Catching Joy would use the $1,000 seed funding for programming. Award money would be used for rental space, materials and supplies, promotional posters and flyers, and snacks for volunteers.
