iCivics Project Innovation Winner

April 09, 2018

We are excited to announce that NBC Universal Foundation chose iCivics as one of the winners of its inaugural Project Innovation grant competition to partner with Boston Public Schools (BPS) on an exciting, project-based civic learning initiative.

Together, we will build a robust "learn by doing" campaign that equips BPS teachers with the curriculum and skills they need to teach civics using game-based simulations. Students will apply what they learned in class to real-life projects and causes that affect their communities.

Throughout this year-long project, iCivics and Boston Public Schools will offer teachers customized civics-in-action professional development based on iCivics' popular game Activate, which encourages student civic engagement. The project comes full circle as iCivics will then connect teachers to local organizations committed to meaningful causes to support their efforts to engage their students in collaborative projects benefiting students and their communities alike.
