2015 MACEI Award
February 04, 2015
We are pleased to announce that iCivics is one of nine nonprofit organizations around the world to receive the 2015 MacArthur Award for Creative and Effective Institutions. The Award, which was announced today, recognizes exceptional nonprofit organizations who have demonstrated creativity and impact, and invests in their long-term sustainability with sizable one-time grants. The magnitude of such an honor comes in part because the MacArthur Foundation does not seek or accept nominations but rather chooses the awardees itself.
Since our founding by Justice O’Connor in 2009, “iCivics has become the largest and most popular digital civic instructional resource in the country, with more than 62,000 registered teachers and reaching more than 6.5 million students in and out of school in all 50 states. This Award will help us grow and allow us to reach even more students,” said Louise Dubé, Executive Director.
