Have you ever gone home from school on Monday already exhausted and wondering how you will get through the week? May I suggest participating in the #sschat that takes place weekly on Mondays 7pm (EST) as a way to recharge your battery. I had the opportunity to co-host #sschat earlier this week thanks to the support of iCivics and I walked away freshly renewed with the energy of great ideas and the passion of social studies and civics teachers across the country. During this one hour chat, I was able to learn from teachers ranging from pre-service to college professors; elementary, middle school, high school; technology and curriculum directors all around the topic of teaching Constitution Day.
The #sschat is great professional development. "Hearing" so many great questions; "seeing" so many great conversations; and "feeling" the excitement of passionate teachers who are just as excited to learn as they are to teach... if that doesn't recharge your batteries I don't know what will. Before I knew it, the hour had passed, but not before getting a bunch of new ideas, making some new friends, and more importantly being reminded of the energy that first got me into teaching. I encourage you to join us one Monday evening to see for yourself!
Check out the Storify from the iCivics Constitution Day #sschat! Happy Constitution Day to everyone!
