Civics 101: The Supreme Court vs. American Idol

Former Justice O'Connor often points out that only 1 in 7 Americans knows that John Roberts is the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, yet two-thirds of Americans can name a judge on “American Idol”. Mary Kate Cary, author of the Thomas Jefferson Street blog, who, in a recent article, expressed shock at this and other civics education facts, but apparently found hope in the old Our Courts site, where she saw firsthand the ways in which it was engaging students.
