Anthony M. Kennedy

Justice Anthony Kennedy was born in Sacramento, California. At age 11, he began working as a page boy for the state senate. He didn’t like school very much until he was in late middle school and high school, but he did like to read a lot. As a boy, Justice Kennedy spent a lot of time with his father, who was a lawyer. He went to trials with him and helped out in his law office. During summers in his teenage years, Justice Kennedy worked in oil fields all around the country. After college, Justice Kennedy spent a year studying in London before coming back to the U.S. for law school. Justice Kennedy became a Supreme Court Justice on February 18th, 1988.
